Hosting Horror Stories
Hosting Renewal Invoice Gets Lost, Website Gets Deleted
Many hosting companies are large and profitable and can not be bothered with making customer phone calls when long-term clients suddenly quit paying their hosting renewal invoices. Most businesses, especially small and medium size, have their share of employee turnover. Sometimes the employee in charge of paying invoices leaves a business and some of the vendor invoices are lost in the shuffle. If your company fails to pay the invoice within the allotted time period (usually 30 days) the hosting company has the legal right to delete your website and all content. It is a harsh penalty and can usually be avoided if the hosting provider would just make a simple phone call. But they are busy signing-up new customers every day so losing a few hosting clients now and then is no big deal to them. If your hosting company deletes your website and you have no functioning backup, well, you are in big trouble.
